What this category covers
Cosmetic and prosthodontic implant work goes a step beyond a standard single-tooth implant. This is the territory of full-arch restorations, implant-supported bridges and dentures, veneers paired with implant crowns, and cases where a prosthodontist has to plan how several teeth will look and function together. It usually involves a team: an oral surgeon or periodontist to place the implant fixtures, and a prosthodontist or cosmetic dentist to design and fit the crowns, bridges, or dentures that attach to them. Planning often includes 3D imaging to map bone density and nerve position before any drilling starts.
What to look for in a provider
Ask who actually places the implant and who restores it, since some offices handle both in-house while others refer out. Check whether they use digital scanning and guided surgery, how they handle bone grafting if you don't have enough jawbone to support an implant, and what materials they use for the final crown or denture (zirconia and porcelain-fused-to-metal are the common choices, each with different cost and durability tradeoffs). Ask to see before-and-after photos of full-arch or multi-tooth cases specifically, not just single crowns. Warranty terms on the implant and the restoration matter too, since these are two separate parts that can fail independently.
